Root Canal

Cancun Cosmetic Dentistry

A Root Canal procedure is used when your tooth is damaged to the pulp or when the cavity has reached or is very close to the pulp. It is mainly used to prevent or remedy infection or pain.

It is used to prevent the infection and save or try to save the tooth. It is a treatment used to repair and save a tooth that is badly decayed or has become infected. Remember a root canal is the last option before an extraction.

During a root canal procedure, the nerve and pulp are removed and the inside of the tooth is cleaned and sealed. Without treatment, the tissue surrounding the tooth will become infected and abscesses may form. The Root Canals we perform at our clinic are done in a couple of sessions.

Safe and easy, get your root canals adone in one single session at beautiful Cancun!

Root canal procedure

If you have a lot of decay, and the pulp becomes infected, the infection may spread through the root canal system of the tooth. This may eventually lead to an abscess. If a root canal treatment (RCT) is not carried out, the infection will spread and the tooth may need to be taken out.

Local anesthetic is used and it should feel no different than having an ordinary filling done. If we suggest you should get a Root Canal and you decide not to have it, the alternative is to have the tooth removed. Once the pulp is destroyed, it can’t heal and it is not recommended to leave an infected tooth in the mouth.

Does the root canal last forever?

The longevity of a root canal depends on the dental care you have after the procedure and many other factors. It can last for a long time with the proper care, but not forever. Remember a root canal is one of the last ditch efforts to save a tooth.

Can my tooth get infected after a root canal?

It depends on what the reason was for doing the root canal, if it was infected before or because an abscess existed, then we need to prescribe an antibiotic for the infection and in specific situations we may need to do the same to prevent infection after we finish the treatment. We will do the procedure in two appointments if the infection is extensive.

The cost of treatment at our clinic in Cancun is much lower than in other countries. We use the same materials and equipment that dentists use in the USA and Canada for a fraction of the cost.

Cancun Cosmetic DentistryWhy Do I Have To Get A Crown After A Root Canal?

When a root canal is performed, the structural integrity of the tooth is compromised and requires to be covered and reinforced from the outside.

Do Endodontics Last Forever?

Some endodontics can last for up to ten years if done properly. You must remember that endodontics mean the living tissue inside the tooth has been killed, extracted and cleaned so it’s just a way to keep your teeth longer.

Can My Tooth Become Infected After Endodontics?

Yes, there’s a small risk of infection from bacteria left over inside the root canal in a hard to reach place.
