Can I be allergic to dental implants? – Cancun Cosmetic Dentistry

 

Only a small percent of the human population is allergic to the metal of dental implants, titanium. So when they tell us: “Am I going to be allergic to dental implants?” it’s difficult to tell right away through phone. We will look at your medical history and review your case to make sure you are a candidate for procedures with mini implants and dental implants. Just remember that titanium is the most compatible with the human body. It’s the same material used for screws when you break a bone or need a hip replacement, etc.

Normally, implants don’t fail and what patients might experience is the bone is rejecting the implant. This doesn’t mean the implant is wrong or that the patient it’s allergic, just that the body simply didn’t want this external object on inside the tissue. It can happen with any type of medical procedure, there’s always a chance.
