Welcome to the best Cosmetic Dentistry in Cancun

Finding what to eat in Cancun might seem challenging at first during your first time on your vacation. Dental tourism in Mexico has increased in popularity and also the amount of American and Canadian patients wondering what can they try after their treatment is done.

Cancun has a huge huge advantage over many other places in Mexico because, believe it or not, it is the melting pot of Mexico! The city it self only has 40 or so years since it was founded so people from all around the country came here to settle. These settlers also brought with them their favorite foods and recipes… making it very easy to find most of any type of traditional Mexican food. Obviously, the original regional food of the Península of Yucatan is the king in its presence. There are also a huge number of international restaurants and also many American restaurants.

Of the things we can suggest about what to eat in Cancun are, of course, tacos. You can never go wrong with tacos. If you want to enjoy a local dish, ask for cochinita pibil… slow roasted and marinated shredded pork in achiote salsa, best eaten with pickled red onions and beans. Word of advice, if you are counting calories, forget about them and just try these. Also, just in general, beware of any salsa. Make this your rule of thumb. Even if they say it’s not spicy, your best bet is to try one, and just ONE drop of a salsa first… this is because this region of Mexico is completely in love with some of the spiciest chiles, called Habanero. Try it first and you should be fine.

Some people are worried about what to eat in Cancun because they might believe there are unsanitary concerns, but restaurants here are required to follow hygiene codes. Perhaps the main thing to look out for is the spices and fiber used on these dishes. Local food is incredibly rich in spices and the use of chile permeates most local foods.

You must eat healthy to keep dental decay and Even though cosmetic dentistry and implant dentistry have advanced a lot in the last few decades and offers use options for dental restorations, we should always strive to give our teeth the best chance available to stay healthy for as long as possible. What we eat and our oral hygiene are two of the most important factors to keep our health (beyond genetics and age). Here is a list of nutrients and healthy food suggestions you need to look at to ensure you can prevent or reduce the risk of gum disease or teeth problems like dental decay.

  • Vitamin D: This is a vitamin you can get from sunshine after eating diary products, fish and yolks. You can identify a lack of this vitamin if you have mouth dryness, a metallic bitter taste or burning mouth feeling.
  • Vitamin C: For centuries, sailors and many other people suffered from lack of Vitamin C and it affected their gums and provoked the loss of teeth.
  • Riboflavin (Vitamins B2 and B12): The lack of these vitamins can lead to mouth sores. Almond, spinach and pasta contain vitamin B2, while meats and dairy products can give you the B12 you need.
  • Niacin (B3): Surprisingly, the lack of this vitamin can predispose you to suffer from bad breath! You can also get painful canker sores. Make sure to eat fish and chicken (white meat).
  • Iron: Iron is one of the most important components of our blood and iron deficiency can lead to mouth sores and tongue inflammation, not even counting plenty other health problems like anemia.
  • Calcium: Calcium is essential to keep our bones healthy and specially if you want to get dental implants. If your are lactose intolerant, you can find calcium in other food sources like oysters, beans, broccoli and sardines!

When people come to Cancun for cosmetic dentistry they are looking for affordable crowns and alternatives because the dental care price in USA are simple way out of their budget. With our prices, they are able to change their lives by recovering their confidence. We have helped over 5,000 patients from USA and Canada. Scott was one of them and he’s very happy with the results of his dental work. Check what he has to say about his experience at our dental clinic in Cancun.

Hi! My name is Scott Kittleson, I’m from Hornby Island which is a small gulf island off of Vancouver Island in Canada… near Vancouver. I’ve been following Doctor German’s clinic for a number of years. There was some dental work that I knew I needed to get done, so I’ve been following the progress of his clinic and watching the testimonials of people who have been coming here… and finally this was the time to come. I just can’t say enough about both the professionalism here and I’m just looking forward for the end results. It’s been a great time here in Cancun. It’s gone fantastic, thank you very much.

First of all I would like to say, welcome to Cancun Cosmetic Dentistry. If you are even kind of maybe thinking about coming here, just do it! I tell you what, the savings that I had were such that with that one, ONE, implant paid for my trip: flight and a week of an all inclusive. The staff here are absolutely amazing, they are so friendly, they are so helpful, feels like you are working with a team. There’s people specialized on root canals. There’s people specialized on implants… and, it’t not like you are working with one person. Everyone knows your case, everybody talks with each other. I went from having a terrible bite and cracked teeth and now… I have these! And I had 4 implants, 3 root canals and 16 crowns put in and is absolutely perfect!

The level of service and the way you are taken care of… I can only say it this way: I never enjoyed going to the dentist in my life… and I realized this morning as I was on my way here for the final work I was having done that I was very much looking forward to coming to the dentist. So, that speaks volumes. Do yourself a favor, come to Cancun Cosmetic Dentistry

We are so excited to share this with you. We moved about a month ago to our new dental clinic and it is starting to feel like home again! You should know we moved within the same Shopping, to the much more accessible entrance from Plaza Malecón Américas Shopping Mall, so if you were already a patient, we are at a walking distance from our previous place! Here’s a pic taken from the exterior of the shopping mall.

We moved! Take a look at our new dental clinic! - Cancun Cosmetic Dentistry

You just need to go up the stairs over there. Inside you will see the big interior windows above on the second floor. If you have trouble using the escalator, there is also an elevator from the parking lot below and from the Liverpool area. We are just in front of the Liverpool entrance from the second floor.

The first few days were filled with awe because we couldn’t believe the amazing views we have. Before we were located in he center of the mall, overlooking the inner courtyard but now we get a direct view of the lagoon, green areas of the mangrove, the avenue and the high end apartment buildings. We now have more spacious areas and private dental units with AC, so you feel comfortable during your treatment.  We couldn’t have asked for a better place to be!

We also got a new high tech x-ray machine. This one can take even 3D x-rays so the doctors can see perfectly the state of your gums, bone and teeth roots. It was very impressive seeing it work the first time! If you were a previous patient you will be impressed by the change. We hoped to improve our dental clinic even more our service to make this the best dental experience you ever had.

Activities during your vacation in Cancun!

People come to Cancun from all around the world looking for a complete smile makeover because of the affordable prices and amazing beaches, but Cancun does not only has beaches where you can relax and have a wonderful time in all inclusive resorts. Here you will also find great golf courses, diving, fishing, adventure tours, parties and many other activities!

There are many options available if you want to fish in Cancun. At the docks in Hotel ZonePuerto Juarez and the Marina you will likely find anything from small skiff-like boats to nice modern yachts. Most of the fishing boats offer either private or shared fishing trips with other tourists and other basic fishing equipment. If you are staying at a resort you should ask at the reception desk for info about this, they usually have a handy list of tour providers. Our dental planners can also help you out to find someone who offers a good fishing tour. Make sure you have a clear idea of what’s included in your fishing trip, how long it will take and what type of fish you are expected to find.

Another thing to do during your dental vacation in Cancun is to go on a boat to party and eat in Isla Mujeres. You will find small boats, ideal for family trips or larger ferry-like boats where you can enjoy the «Fiesta» with many other tourists. Some of these tours also include snorkeling. Make sure to ask our dentists if your treatment allows you to do snorkel or diving beforehand (for example, patients with Sinus Lifts should not dive or snorkel). The waters in this area are calm and perfect for novices and people who just want to relax.

Dentistry tips for Halloween Candy to avoid tooth decay, cavities and caries!

Are you ready for Monday!? Halloween is around the corner and we know many of our patients are concerned for the dental health of their children… and let’s be honest, we also get to enjoy our own share of sweets that day! The candy obtained on Halloween can even last for several months if you had good luck finding out the most bountiful houses. Regulating the consumption of these delicious treats can be a challenge for any parent. There are number of things we can do for our children (and ourselves!) when dealing with Halloween candy. Check these tips to protect your smile and teeth from cavities:
Avoid snacking candy:
Eating candy between meals is a terrible idea for both your diet and your dental health… specially if it’s a sugary snack! That’s why…

Eat candy right after a meal:
If you want to threat your children or yourself with Halloween candy, eat it after a meal as a desert. At this time your mouth is already increased production of saliva and these can help suppress the brunt of the effect of sugary foods and bacteria. Limit them to 2 or 3 candies per meal at most, depending on the size, this could be even just 1 a day.

Stay away from sticky candies:
Sticky candies can pose a big problem for your teeth, forcing them to work harder than usual and increasing your chances of tooth decay because they take longer to get «dissolved» by saliva, specially if they get stuck on hard to reach places between your teeth.

Reduce intake of soda and sugary drinks:
You are already taking much more sugar than usual! There is no need to increase your chances of cavities even more with sugary drinks.
Donate the rest:
You and your children might end up with lots of candies that you don’t like. It is better to give them to someone who might like them instead of keeping them in your house as a temptation. If they stay around, you could make an excuse like «just one time» or «let’s try this», «there nothing else to snack» and end up eating more candy that you ever expected.

Double down on your dental hygiene:
You must be strict with your brushing and flossing habits every time you eat Hallowing candy. Brush at least twice a day (morning and night), and floss before going to sleep to keep your teeth and gums healthy.
Schedule your dentist appointment:
There is no better time to remember to book your dentist appointment than Halloween, when your teeth might be vulnerable. Make sure you and your kids have good dental health before going for Trick or Treat this Halloween!

Teeth regeneration: The future of dental implants

Recent dental studies suggest that the future of dentistry lies on dental restoration treatments as an alternative for dental implants. Considering the wear, infections and accidents suffered by teeth throughout life, finding a way to regenerate new teeth would be a huge advance for dentistry. Understanding the operation of dental regeneration of alligators (one of the few animals who can regenerate their teeth) would be key to find ways to apply it to the human species.

Thus adult teeth that have been damaged due to consumption of acidic and sugary foods, those that have been lost by accidents or even teeth that have fallen because of periodontal disease may recover by creating new teeth. Future dentists could develop new methods for generating human teeth based on  active stem cells. A study conducted by several Chinese laboratories found that certain dental structures can be generated by stem cells. This assumption means that we could regenerate dental tissue specific stem cells provided by the patient.

Although adult stem cells have been effectively used in various treatments related to tissue engineering and regenerative medicine, much more research is still required to bring to fruition dental regeneration. This particular study concluded that stem cells from human urine containing enamel could be the key for such breakthrough.

One of the main challenges of regeneration is to provide dental structures that have long-term integrity. Dental implants are made of titanium so they provide a strong structural integrity and the new regenerated tissue would have to offer a similar strength. It might take a couple of decades before this can become a reality but we will do out best to offer you the most modern treatment available if it happens.

Stress could increase the risk of cavities.

According to experts in the field, chronic stress can cause cavities because of reduction of salivary secretion, a fact that contributes directly to a higher probability of developing caries. People who have «dry mouth» are more likely than those with higher salivary flow to suffer from teeth cavities.

Saliva is a natural defensive measure our bodies have to stave off dental caries. Thanks to its alkaline pH and its buffering, it can help remove food debris that can stay in the mouth and neutralize the acids produced by plaque to an extend. We talked before about people who sleep with their mouth opens and how also can be a risk to their teeth. Technically is the same principle. The mouth dries up and the teeth become vulnerable.

It has been estimated that in order to enjoy good oral health, people must segregate from 1 to 3 millimeters per minute of saliva. If segregation is higher, you can produce a feeling of constant drooling causing erosion on the surface of the lips. And if the opposite occurs, oral health is greatly affected. The dry mouth syndrome can generate problems in swallowing, chewing, talking and even prosthetic limbs. In addition, the patient may experience pain and irritation.

In any case, stress could affect your body is such a way so that means Cancun has another advantage for you when you come to relax in the beach. You will reap the benefits of an amazing dental vacation. Get a dental cleaning, porcelain crowns, inlays, onlays and more.

Believe it or not, we will have yet another dental implant course coming up on August. We are still confirming the exact date but the tentative is to host it on the third week of August. We are very excited because we had only hosted 2 of these events per year, but the demand to learn from the dental implant experts is simply too great. Dozens of American dentists are waiting for their chance to come to Cancun and learn directly from professionals like Doctor Shankar Iyer and Doctor John Minichetti from the AAID (American Academy of Implant Dentistry), along with Doctor German Arzate, one of the most successful leaders of dental tourism in Cancun.

Until then we will gather local people in need who require help to restore their mouths. While replacing a missing tooth is obviously not simply a cosmetic matter, these people have no other hope to have a functional set of teeth. We will do our best with love and dedication, like always, to provide that chance and improve their quality of life.

High Quality Dental Implants Cost in Cancun

When it comes to high quality dental implants for an affordable price, Cancun Cosmetic Dentistry is the right answer for you. Our dear patient Mike found out about us some years ago and he was very happy to be able to smile again without spending outrageous sums of money. Dental implants in Cancun cost about $899 USD, plus abutment and crown for $750 USD. Mike got an estimate for the same kind of implants in USA for about $3,000 USD each. There was no way he was going to afford that. Luckily for him, cheaper doesn’t mean low quality. We use the exact same brands and FDA approved materials as the best dentists in USA. You can confirm with our dental planners by chatting with them on the instant chat window in the lower left corner of the page.

Going back to Mike, he loves Cancun. He enjoys having a vacation here to go sightseeing and taking his favorite drink while relaxing at the beach. There are many things to do in Cancun and he always recommends people to come. He also recommends our services. In fact he left this small message the last time he visited us:

Doctor Cesar – wonderful. Doctor Wendy – wonderful. This clinic is fabulous! Upfront about prices. High quality, reasonable prices and friendly competent staff. This is my fifth time here. Highly recommended!

Mike is pictured above with Doctor Victoria and Paty, our dental planner. These are a couple of faces you will get acquaintanced with during your appointments. We always make sure you feel at home and at ease to have the most pleasant dental experience.

Dental Implants in Cancun Review
It was a pleasure to have Sheldon here with us! He traveler from Florida, and it only took a 1.5 hour flight from there to get to Cancun. He had a problem with a broken tooth and needed it to be extracted. He took the x-rays to Doctor German Arzate to see what could they do for him. He didn’t have to look for an alternative because he and his wife have known Doctor German Arzate for almost 7 years. Sheldon knew for a fact that Doctor German Arzate would do a great job whatever treatment he needed.

He arrived on Friday morning and by afternoon Sheldon was ready to get a dental implant to replace his broken tooth. This was his first time he got dental implants in Cancun so he was understandably a little nervous about the procedure.

«I didn’t know what to expect to be frank. I thought I would be ‘under the gun’ for about two hours, but by the time Doctor Arzate was done through with me, it was maybe half an hour. I had absolutely no pain, no discomfort, nothing»

Now, Sheldon will return home to wait for the bone to heal around the titanium dental implant and to bond with it in a process called osseointegration. This is an important part of healing, to make sure the implant will be able to withstand the forces and pressure from chewing and biting.
Sheldon was feeling so great two days after the dental implant placement he went to play racquetball with doctor German Arzate and his friend Bob (we talked about him the other day).

Pet Friendly Hotels in Cancun

We have been told many times by our patients that they would have been more delighted during their dental vacations if only they could have brought along their best friends. We also get a lot of questions about if we know of any hotel in Cancun that can accept their furry friends.

While we can’t allow pets into the dental clinic because this is supposed to be a sterile area, we understand our patients would like to have fun with their little friends when they come to enjoy this tropical paradise. The latest data shows that 20 dogs arrive daily at the Cancun International Airport, that’s about 7300 dogs a year, a number that has been on the rise in the recent years. More and more people simply don’t like to leave behind what they consider a part of their family.

We have looked at some pet-friendly hotels in Cancun so you can bring them with you to Cancun (even if you are not coming for a dental appointment). Most of these hotels accept dogs up to 11 kilograms or 24 lbs, and some even provide a welcome kit for them too! They will be  guests after all!

  • Holiday Inn Cancun Arenas
  • Aloft Cancun
  • Nizuc Resort and Spa Cancun
  • The Westin Resort and Spa Cancun
  • Me Cancun

Some extra tips:

  • Call the hotel when making the reservation and fill any online form needed to avoid any surprise extra charges.
  • Remember, the smaller the better! It will be easier to bring a small dog than a larger breed.
  • No reptiles, birds or spiders, etc. None of these animals are allowed on the hotels, only dogs and sometimes cats.
  • Use a leash at all times!
  • There’s a pet-friendly beach in Cancun! Mirador Dos beach is located at the end of the Hotel Zone
  • When coming for your appointment, be sure to leave enough food and water in the room/crate for your friend and ask the hotel if they have dog-sitting service while you come back. Your appointment shouldn’t take too long depending on the work you are going to get done.
