Full mouth restoration with All-on-4 or All-on-6 dental implants?

We receive a lot of questions about the difference about the All-on-4 and the All-on-6. What could be the best solution for you? Well, first of all, to perform these procedures you need to be a very skilled doctor because the placement of the All-on-4 implants is everything! They need to be set two in the front and two implants with inclination to the side. The all-on-6 protocol it’s different because you place 6 implants in a straight way. This technique you don’t do it with immediate load, this technique you do immediate load. If someone is telling that they do the All-on-4 in two stages is because they don’t know the right protocol. The right protocol is that you can perform those implants and you can do immediate load at once. Now, on all-on-6 you place the 6 implants and you wait from 3 to 6 months for the bone to heal then, afterwards, you are ready to perform the bar.

Which of those techniques is best for you? Well, it will depend on the height of the bone, you can’t do long implants in the posterior areas due to the inferior alveolar nerve. You don’t wanna touch the nerve so that’s why you usually use short implants.  In the end, they are different techniques, but it will depend on your doctor’s skills and a thorough evaluation. Both techniques are good and both techniques work very well.

Also, you must know that we can do a combined treatment if needed. In this video we can see one of our patients who got an adapted treatment of All-on-4 and All-on-6 with some modifications. We will tell you if you need anything else to complete your treatment and restore your smile.

inlay onlays crown overlay

While one of our most popular treatments are Zirconia Crowns, you might need an inlay, onlay or overlay instead. Crowns are not the same as inlays, overlays or onlays. Crowns envelop the entirety of the tooth, while the later usually deal with a small section. Perhaps you got a small cavity and want to restore that part of the tooth. Is it possible? Well, in all cases, the dentist will have to take a good look at you, take digital x-rays to check the integrity of your teeth and then decide what’s the best course of action. In many cases, your teeth might be in need of full restoration with crowns but it can also need just a partial restoration of its structure. The names are indicative of the form and space they will cover. They are made of different materials, usually porcelain or metal, but can also be made with a special composite filling that hardens. They can also be used to replace old or damaged metal fillings. In a way, they are more similar to veneers than to crowns, but fulfill almost the same function.

  • Inlay type restorations are indicated for premolars and molars with medium structure loss.
  • Onlay restorations are usually indicated for premolars and molars with structural loss greater than a third of the surface area.
  • Overlays are a little more extensive than onlays, being almost like a crown but not quite there.

In either case, if you want a porcelain inlay/onlay you would have to get impressions to redo the missing form of the tooth and make sure it fits correctly. The complete procedure is carried out over two appointments within the same week so it fits neatly on your dental vacation schedule. Perhaps the affected area could also get a resin filling instead of porcelain. Your dentists will suggest you the best course of action and any other alternative treatment you might need.

You might like to know that many of our patients come during the winter season for the most obvious of all: Cancun’s weather! Cancun is located in the eastern side of Mexico. For all intents and purposes, Cancun has a tropical climate with little temperature variation between seasons. The average temperatures almost always stay over the 20°C or 68F, making it the perfect spot to spend the strongest part of the winter.

Our patients say they love Cancun on these days because they can go out to walk on the beach and even enjoy jungle tours, while, in comparison, they would have been turning up the heating back home, unable to go out. Also, they say they simply feel so energized because we have so much sun here. Just to give you an idea, in Winter’s Solstice (the shortest day of the year) we have 11 hours daylight!

You can check some of the video testimonials from our patients talking about their experience here!

In this testimonial video, Nicholas, another of our dear patients, talks about getting this treatment with crowns to improve his smile.

Hi my name is Doctor Krishna from Cancun Cosmetic Dentistry, and we have our patient Nicolas right here with us. Hi Nicolas.

Hi, how are you?

Good and how are you doing?

Great.

Can you tell us a little bit about your treatment what do you get down here please?

I had roughly 12 crowns done more on the upper top teeth and so far I went very well they went doing the bottom.

This is the most affordable places unlike New York City and there you are paying roughly 20 thousand dollars for top teeth and the price over here is actually pretty decent, very affordable.

Safety is top notch!

Everything was done carefully at they took their time to make sure that everything is right

What do you think about the Clinic? How do you feel with everything…?

The clinic is so clean, very safe, a lot of the employees here are very kind and professional.  This is a very safe place to be.

Well I really didn’t find you, my wife did.

She found you guys, she was looking at some prices she came across, Cancun and it was like wow, why don’t we just get a vacation out of it. We will take it through there and get it done

What makes us different than other dental clinics? Our staff!

For all these passing years, one of the main things we have worked hard to set us apart from other dental clinics is the amazing team of dentists, customer care and dental planners that give the most of themselves for each new patient that arrive through our doors. Dental clinics in USA don’t have a kind staff that looks after the needs of their patients. We have been told horror stories where they were treated like they were just «another mouth» to treat and never cared of their emotional state. On the other hand, we will do follow up calls all through the days the process takes to make sure everything is going well with you. Our dental planners and assistants will be ready to help you. For many of our patients, they say we have become like family to them.

One of those patients is Ruby, who had an excelente experience with us. She also loved visiting Cancun and enjoying the beach. This is the video she did to talk with you!

Well, my first name is Ruby, I’m from Dallas, Texas.

That’s why we came here and the doctor and my husband did talk the four about coming here, then he’s very sure he’s going to do a good job, that’s why we came here.

They’re great. I have no words to explain. Very nice. Very courteous. Always there whenever I asked them. This feeling deep here. She helped, Doctor Victoria. Doctor Dani.. Daniel? Doctor Cesar. They’re all really nice.

Oh, yeah very safe. Yeah, no, we are not scared of anything. They got the security, I see the guys, the police over here so… that makes the difference.

Happy with a smile makeover with his dentists in Cancun!

The great thing about coming to Cancun for your smile makeover with crowns is that you can enjoy the best dental service and the most amazing vacations at the same time. We usually need a week to finish the look of your new teeth, and while you wait you can go to have fun around downtown, Mercado 28, the Hotel Zone, Isla Mujeres and more. Thousands of Americans have come to our clinic to get first class dental treatments with the most professional staff. They leave as friends.

One of such patients is Henry who agreed to make a video testimonial review like many others we have. He got a smile makeover with crowns. Crowns are a type of dental restoration which, when cemented into place, fully cup over the portion of a tooth that lies at and above the gum line.

My name is Henry, I’m from New Jersey, United States I have some crown done and I also have two implants and I am very happy with the cosmetic portion, the feel and the bite is very good, the feel is very natural and I would be able to eat good things that I’d want to eat before this treatment. I could not probably to eat steaks and now I can enjoy steak. All the staff, all the staff is excellent, and dentists that treatment me all extremely confident, extremely professional. I am very happy to have had the treatment.
Cancun of course is a beautiful place and I glad to come down here. And this time, I spent nine days here, I enjoy every minute

And the place is excellent compared to Unite States is much much better and surely if you combine trip to I have a good time for same price as you pay in United States. And I think I’m very safe in Cancun because I have a car that I can drive everywhere and there is no problem, the beach is beautiful, people friendly and just a very enjoyable place.

Did you know there are several animals that boast teeth regeneration among their natural traits? It might sound like some kind of super power but to be honest it seems like a very practical idea to apply to humans. Imagine if a tooth gets knocked off or falls victim to cavities, it would be so much better to simply wait for the next tooth to regrow. After all, we already had baby teeth, right? Well… things are not so simple.

Bunny Eating A Carrot chewing with incisive teeth While some animals are able to regrow their teeth partially or completely, the mechanics behind the process is very complex. Rodents, for example, have incisors that never stop growing. In the case of Chinchillas, they have a higher fiber diet so their molars are continuously growing like their incisors. This is the reason they chew on everything almost obsessively… if they don’t wear their teeth down they could eventually end up piercing their own skulls or keep them from eating and starve! Ok, maybe regenerating teeth are not for us…

Then what about sharks?

Rows of shark teeth regeneration - Cancun Cosmetic DentistryShark shed their teeth during all their lives and some are said to shed about 35,000 teeth during their lifetime! This is why is so easy to find shark teeth at the beach and ocean floor. We might  think the rows and rows of shark teeth aren’t nice to look at but we can’t deny they are simply amazing! Their teeth are not as strongly joined with the bone of the jaw like our own teeth because sharks don’t chew. They can only bite, trash and shake around to try to dislodge a piece of their new found meal. If the shark got his tooth (and mouth) stuck to his meal it could spell doom for the shark, so in fact, their teeth sit on cartilage rather than bone. This allows it to dislodge easily! As soon as a tooth is missing, the next one in the row starts to sprout.

Rows of shark teeth regeneration - Cancun Cosmetic DentistryAnother interesting thing about shark teeth is their coating. They are covered with acid-resistant fluorapatite enamel that makes cavities virtually impossible. That’s certainly something we would love to have! Our enamel is not as resistant but it generally allows healthy teeth to survive much much longer than the rest of our bones.

Researches are still trying to find ways so they can apply some of the attributes from these animals on humans. Perhaps one day we can get a regeneration toothpaste or even a small organic tooth implant. Until then we are pretty much stuck with our usual teeth so we need to give them the best care possible to keep them clean and healthy!
