Colors on toothpaste tubes: Don’t let them fool you!
Regular toothpaste color fake myth rumor hoax
Not many people are concerned with the type of toothpaste they use but if you are interested on your dental health you might have come across tons of dental tips and rumors about things you can do to get white teeth, recipes for toothaches and even alternatives for dental procedures. One particular information we are going to talk about today is the rumor that there is a hidden code on your toothpaste tube. We have found this image in the web and we need to start explaining everything wrong with it.
First of all… all toothpaste is chemical. No question about it. People seem to forget everything in nature is a chemical. Even when some claim they use only baking soda because is “chemical free” they don’t know soda is in fact NaHCO3 or Sodium hydrogen carbonate. On our previous blog post we actually talked about the alternative uses of toothpaste and its ingredients, chiefly aluminium hydroxide and calcium carbonate.
The chart above is completely bogus. Medicinal toothpaste does not have a color mark either. Here is an example of an specialized paste medicine for gums:
Here’s the pic of a regular toothpaste:
Beyond the medicinal ingredients, the one real difference between the two is the package. That’s what it all boils down to. The machines that make the plastic tubes require a visual cue to know where to cut and seal the tube for packaging. It generally needs to be a darker color than the rest for the computer to recognize it. That’s why you will generally see the color strips over white, so the contrast makes it easier to identify.
Here you can see the process of production of a toothpaste. You can tell the machine is using the dark color as reference to make it face the right direction through the production line (around 3:33).
The more you know! Share this post with your friends and let them know the truth about the colors on the tubes. Make sure your facts are confirmed before sharing photos with rumors like the above. Is very important to fight off disinformation in any health field; someone’s health could be hanging in the balance! Cancun Cosmetic Dentistry will always do our best to give you real and accurate scientific information to look after your dental health. Let us know if you have any other question!

Affordable porcelain crowns in Cancun Cosmetic Dentistry
We had an amazing case for dental crowns with our dear patient Maria. She’s a lovely Greek lady living in Canada and came to us for some affordable dental work. This wasn’t the first time Maria came to Cancun and she couldn’t be happier. She told us Cancun is a paradise and loves the beach. She also would like to taste lots of Mexican dishes. We are so proud she liked our country’s natural wonders, food and work!
She was looking for a cheaper alternative to dentistry in USA with estimates being completely out of her budget. Luckily she found our information while she did research on the Internet and decided to give it a shot. She was happy with the porcelain crowns she got, giving her a natural look to her smile.

More dental implant courses in Cancun Cosmetic Dentistry
Doctor German Arzate Live Implant Surgery Course Cancun - dental implant
Believe it or not, we will have yet another dental implant course coming up on August. We are still confirming the exact date but the tentative is to host it on the third week of August. We are very excited because we had only hosted 2 of these events per year, but the demand to learn from the dental implant experts is simply too great. Dozens of American dentists are waiting for their chance to come to Cancun and learn directly from professionals like Doctor Shankar Iyer and Doctor John Minichetti from the AAID (American Academy of Implant Dentistry), along with Doctor German Arzate, one of the most successfulleaders of dental tourism in Cancun.
Until then we will gather local people in need who require help to restore their mouths. While replacing a missing tooth is obviously not simply a cosmetic matter, these people have no other hope to have a functional set of teeth. We will do our best with love and dedication, like always, to provide that chance and improve their quality of life.

If you are interested on sending pictures of your mouth you need to follow these helpful guidelines:
Take a frontal picture of your mouth smiling naturally.
Take a sideways picture of your mouth smiling from each side.
Take an inner picture of the lower and upper view of your mouth wide open so we can see the back of your teeth and gums easily.
Ask someone to help you take the photos. They can make sure the image looks clear from the right angles.
These pictures and any mouth x-ray you might already have will be the starting ground and we can start planning for a solution for you.

Affordable Dental Implants in Cancun, same quality as in USA
Compared with Dental Implants in Cancun, the ones in United States and Canada can be thrice as expensive. We use the same brands as the best dentists worldwide: Nobel Biocare, Zimmerman, Neodent, MIS, etc. This is why our dear patient Giovanna decided to come to Cancun on a dental vacation. She’s one of thousands of people who travel to Mexico for dental tourism looking for affordable dentistry when they can’t get it on their home countries. For example, Giovanna had an estimate of $45,000 USD for the same job she did her for a fraction of that price. She saved so much she had her vacations at the same time without any further concerns.
Giovanna is pictured above with our amazing doctor Cesar Ibañez and Paty, our dental planner who oversaw Giovanna’s visit to the clinic. With the help of her and our other dental planners Giovanna had a smooth visit to Cancun. This was her first time in this Caribbean paradise and she used her free days to relax and go shopping in one of the many malls. Cancun has modern facilities, restaurants, discos and amazing resorts with all services.
This is what Giovanna told us about her experience:
The Staff here is very nice. They are very helpful in answering any question. Good at tending to my concerns. My dental experience here was excellent.
Giovanna is happy so far and she will be back in a few months later in the year to rehabilitate her new dental implants with the final porcelain crowns. We are very happy to have assisted her.

Water Irrigators complement your dental hygiene! – Cancun Cosmetic Dentistry
Water Irrigator and dental health tips in Cancun Cosmetic Dentistry
Dental hygiene is an extremely essential thing everyone should be aware of. Not taking care of your teeth will have catastrophic results later in life, affecting your health, social life and self-confidence. This is why we always recommend several other things besides the common “brush your teeth” routine. We have talked before about flossing, but today we are going to touch on the subject of water irrigators.
What is a water irrigator? This is a very simple machine that uses pressured water as the main medium to remove the plaque and food debris from the surface of teeth and gums. The bacteria feeding of the food debris can be the responsible for teeth cavities and gum disease so that’s why people should do their best to remove them. It is really helpful with patients that have braces, as it will get rid of the food stuck between the wires.
The initial cost is an investment in your dental health. You can even teach your children how to use it. There are even versions specially designed for children. Obviosuly, you should get one for each person and avoid using the same water irrigator between family members.

When it comes to high quality dental implants for an affordable price, Cancun Cosmetic Dentistry is the right answer for you. Our dear patient Mike found out about us some years ago and he was very happy to be able to smile again without spending outrageous sums of money. Dental implants in Cancun cost about $899 USD, plus abutment and crown for $750 USD. Mike got an estimate for the same kind of implants in USA for about $3,000 USD each. There was no way he was going to afford that. Luckily for him, cheaper doesn’t mean low quality. We use the exact same brands and FDA approved materials as the best dentists in USA. You can confirm with our dental planners by chatting with them on the instant chat window in the lower left corner of the page.
Going back to Mike, he loves Cancun. He enjoys having a vacation here to go sightseeing and taking his favorite drink while relaxing at the beach. There are many things to do in Cancun and he always recommends people to come. He also recommends our services. In fact he left this small message the last time he visited us:
Doctor Cesar – wonderful. Doctor Wendy – wonderful. This clinic is fabulous! Upfront about prices. High quality, reasonable prices and friendly competent staff. This is my fifth time here. Highly recommended!
Mike is pictured above with Doctor Victoria and Paty, our dental planner. These are a couple of faces you will get acquaintanced with during your appointments. We always make sure you feel at home and at ease to have the most pleasant dental experience.

Alternative uses for toothpastes! How many do you know?
Alternative uses for toothpastes
Before we go into our list, we have ask ourselves, what are toothpastes made of in the first place? What we know as a toothpaste are actually a mix of abrasives that help getting rid off the the dental plaque from the surface of our teeth, as well as helping with bad breath and keeping our gums healthy. In small amounts, toothpaste is not harmful, but please, do not swallow a large amount of toothpaste (on a dare for example)! Toothpaste has a certain amount of flouride that can cause you adverse effects if you eat it.
Some of the most common abrasives used in toothpaste is aluminium hydroxide, calcium carbonate and other silicas, as well as flouride that helps on preventing cavities and the protection of enamel. In short, there are several things you can do with toothpastes thanks to their abrasive action. Let’s see some of the common:
One of the most popular alternative uses of toothpaste is as a cleaner for headlights on cars. Grab a rag or an old towel to scrub the paste all over the foggy headlights. You can even use a left over toothbrush if you want to make it quicker.
The second most well known use is as a defogger for googles. This is a great tip if you are going to do some snorkeling in Cancun.
Clean the grime under an iron. Yep! You can clean that strange stain on your iron with some non-gel toothpaste. Obviously, the iron needs to be disconnected and turned off before you start cleaning.
So… if you can scrub and clean an Iron… can you do the same with jewelry? The answer is yes! You can give a second life to your rings, bracelets and other gems.
A little bit of toothpaste can also help you out getting a strange smell off your hands.
For all these its recommended to use only non-gel toothpastes and a slightly wet towel or rag to clean it off.
Maybe after reading all these uses you are wondering… “Wow! Should I even put toothpaste in my mouth? Seems too strong!”. We will say this: always use regular toothpastes unless your dentist directs you otherwise, specially with whitening toothpastes. These are really abrasive and might end up damaging your teeth causing you sensitivity and more issues if they have not been prescribed by a dentist. A final tip for a better dental hygiene is to place the toothpaste directly on you teeth first instead of the toothbrush.
